Liam's Glasses

So I have not blogged in awhile. Everyone knows that life with 3 boys can be busy. We just finished Mike's end of the year assessment, we were late this year with all that has gone on. I feel though that he is ready to move on. More to the point he feels that he is ready to move on.

At Liam's normal pediatrician appointment during the eye exam the doctor saw something peculiar. He assured me that it was probably him but he wanted me to take Liam to the eye doctor anyway. So I made appointment and really did not think anything about it. He seems to see fine but it turns out not so much. At the pediatric eye doctor we found out that Liam has something called amblyopia. (generally charateristic of kids with lazy eye). Well Liam does not have a lazy eye but the eyesight in his right eye is awful. So he is now wearing glasses. They cannot patch him because his vision is so bad that if they patched the good eye he could not see at all. So glasses, then patch and on we go. He will probably be in glasses until he is 9 years old. The good thing is that because it was caught so early it is probably reversible...that is the best part.

So you are probably wondering how we keep a 18 month old in glasses. I am not sure why or how but he takes wearing his glasses seriously and we have little to no problems...maybe he understands that we are trying to help. He is awful cute in them.
